Hi, Rahim here to conclude the whole Canada experience. The students have been lively, cheerful and healthy throughout the 3-week stay. They had managed their finances well by cooking their own meal and had saved some money to buy souvenirs for their loved ones back home. The apartment suites at Calgary Downtown where we stay have been very comfortable. The experience on going to school at minus 10 degrees Centigrade during snowing, walking on icy walkpaths, taking the Calgary Transit rail, learning robot programming and automated systems alongside their Canadian classmates and exposure to the Sait culture, and visits to Canadian industry have all been a very good experience for the students. And most memorable, the snowy trip to the dinosaur museum at Drumheller, taking a gondola up a snow mountain at Banff National Park and walking up to 7667 ft above sea level at minus 14 degrees C to its icy tip, walking on icy frozen lake at Lake Louise mountain resort, playing the popular local ice curling game, watching an ice hockey match, have all been an experience which cannot be forgotten. All of us have really enjoyed this trip. We have achieved what we came here for. To all these, we are grateful to our Canadian host, especially Pam Baji, the Global Education Network coordinator, all the people at Sait Polytechnic School of Manufacturing and Automation, especially Craig Maynard, Alan Boykiw, Brad Donaldson, Dr Gordon Nixon and others for their hospitality and effort in making those wonderful arrangement for us during our stay. Not forgetting all those people at ITE who have made this trip possible. As a finale to our visit, we will be going for an industrial visit today and in the evening to attend the farewell dinner for us which is hosted by Sait. Too eager to meet our loved ones back homes, we have started packing our bags and will be leaving Calgary on the 6am Friday morning flight which is scheduled to reach Singapore at 12.5 am Sunday morning. We bid goodbye to Canada but the memories will remain with us forever… We are closing this blog now.

It's a Weekend & the trip to Banff!!

well, today is SUNDAY!! and we went to Banff!! hahas.. with the accompany of Alan and his Girlfriend Shelly... the trip is around 2hrs ride.. hahas.. and as we go up we all feel so tired and all was sleeping.. so when we reached and got off the car, Alan told us about why we felt tired.. so he said, as we are going up to the mountains, there is lesser oxygen thus we all feel tired and sleepy.. hahas..

first stop, LAKE LOUSIE! the ice sculptures is all very nice.. take a look at all the photos =)

next stop is Banff!! so we took cable car up to the mountain.. the treat is on Gordon!! thanks alotx!!

look at that Kah Seng.. he is relaxing.. hahas..then lunch on top of the mountain.. treat on Alan.. they are all really very nice people.. =)

then after lunch, we climb up to the highest top of the mountain, there live one man, Alan said.. he say his house is very neat and tidy and that is really true.. hahas.. this is us and the man's house...

after that, shopping.. =) enjoy the photos... =)

Time for Curlers to shine...

-Thursday,12th February 2009-

Okay, today's weather check... -12 Deg (wind chill:-16) plus it was a sunny day =)

Alright, today we all went to experience Curling the 1st time..
Curling is a popular game in Canada, which is also a very fun and yet challenging game..

At 1pm, we met Pam at the lobby and then set off to Calgary Curling Club
it was not that far from the hotel but the weather permitted us from walking there...hehe =)

Then we met Daniel..our 'coach' for the day and he got us ready and set for some Curling..

it was a slow start for us Beginner, but we got the hang of it after a few tries and coaching...

Soon we got started with a small match between ourselves...

we had alot of fun on the ice..sliding,sweeping and also Curling
in the end..Peggy's team beats Desmond's team scoring of 4-3

and oops, did i mention Kah Seng was the 1st one to fall.. =D
Muahahaha! eventually Fadzly too fell down as we were exiting the court
we laughed our stomachs out.. *Laughs Loudly*

At about 4pm, we finished the game. We then went back to the hotel, and also Mr Rahim was planning to go out Shopping later that night..
So around 5.30pm, we all we ready and went off to Anderson Mall.. It's located quite far from the hotel and we had to take the train there.. *phew*
there were alot of commuters during this time,and we had to squeeze into the train like Sardines..a very similar case inside the MRT back in S'pore, hehe =)

After a few train stops, we reached our destination....Anderson Mall *wohooo*
again, weather check... -15 Deg Celsius!
we rushed to the Mall because it was really cold and only we know how Relieved we felt entering the mall... *another Phew* how happy we were to feel the Warmth =D

and then we started walking around looking for some stuffs to buy..
and yea, everyone got what they are looking for -__- I guess?
We then entered a Chocolate store to buy some deligths for Valentine's Day..
Bought some cards to along with it..

Wohoo, and we are done for the day..
again,the rush back to the train station..
and finally to our warm hotel rooms..

SNOWING ~ ! Wednesday,11Feburary2009 ( late post ! )

today is the first time we all experience SNOWing !! It felt like ICE-Kachang dropping down from the sky xD just that there is no topping on it " ... " == haha ! so we took a few photos out at the hotel area .

so today we went back to finish off our sumo robo & by the end of the day its almost done .. just left abit of drilling here and there to be done .

and Fad & mr Rahim when to SAFEWAY to get some ingredients for tonight small feast . Nasi Goreng for guys xD haha ! by Chef Fad. As for me, Ks, Peggy & Janice .. we got back to the hotel to get some thing packed ! (actually we didnt knew we will going gocery shopping so we didnt alighted and also its was block by the people who stood near the entrance/exit area and we will going out at the same time ,people were just push in ) " .. yeah ! "

so in the end .. we will all extremely tired cause of the snow which made us excited about it and will jumping up and down on our way to school . Sorry about that ..

Canada Trip Day9

Hello everybody... today is MONDAY so well, it's school day for us.. anyway, yesterday we had a great time in Craig's house as it's sunday so he invited us to his house for BBQ session.. we really had a great time and his family and house is so warm so cosy.. his family members are all very friendly also.. and all we can say that Craig's wife is a GREAT COOK!!

so today we went to school and continue building our sumo robot.. it's almost complete and we are all ready to compete with the students over here.. =)

hELLO! Janice the cute here! Sorry for updating our Day 7 in Canada late. Because we were having a tour! To DrumHeller. =) It was a beautiful place ^^ really. heehee. I love the nature there. Also we had a tired day. heehs. Because it's my job to do the special day for today, I of course have to pick the best pirture for you to see right? I had quite a hard time to pick out the pictures that were taken by us. Can you imagine?It felt like a thousand pictures to pick from. Oh my goodness that's a lot. Anyway, while we were heading to DrumHeller, which takes us about an hour and a half there, we pass some farms like this one. I had a hard time taking it. The car was moving so fast!
Over here, we stopped to get fresh air =) Craig said that the area there has the freshest air. Haha. Yes it was fresh but it was so cold.

As you can see how cold and windy the place is that we could hardly open our eyes wide for the camera. heehee.
Here we are! The Dino Land! Wahahaha! It was so cool! They showed us in sequence of how dinosaurs evolution and how it ended and the survivals that has left.

This is bedge couloured looking lizard is an endangered species. I thought it looked cute. It's under water. and it breathe through it's gills like a fish, but it crawls. I didnt see it swim though. Heehees Oh!oh!It looked like it's from the Japanese Gozilla show. From the series it got a monster that looked something like that. HahA.

But Peggy and Mr Rahim didnt =X oops. Cause it's a little slippery, not all of us have a good grip on their shoes. heehs. I guess you can forgive them right? =X

Canada Trip Day6

hello again... it's us!! hahas.. well, today got up abit later cuz lesson starts at 9am today and it's SAIT open house!! first, when we reached school, Craig gave us 2 box of sumo wrestling robots and we were divided into groups to fix it up.. so we will be competing with the students over here next week.. do catch us in our post next week..

as you all can see, we are busy fixing up the robots... hahas..

well, half way through, we were being invited by Craig to join him for the open house.. we really enjoyed ourselves in the open house as we really got alot of souvenirs from the booths and the chocolates there is really very very very nice!! YUM YUM!! (well, Mdm Asrina, are u drooling on the table now?? hahas...)

and as we entered, there is this really cool bike park in the middle... so nice!!

Then after that, Craig took us to the skill city and there in it, lies a BIG BIG truck!! inside the truck, there is a bed and a bathroom!! and i guess singapore can never drive this type of big truck as we have limited spaces...

see, how BIG the truck is!! hahas..

and here we are all on wheels and Mr.Rahim on the bed!! he's enjoying!! hahas...

and we did wielding over there... each and every one of us did it... we will take a photo together and post it up.. here's an example from kah seng...

Canada Trip Day5

Hello again everyone.. it's us again =).. today is the fifth stay over here... life has been good so far.. anyway, today we had our lesson early in the morning 8am... so we all woke up early and head off to sch... 1st lesson again, it's robotics...

We get to hands on the robots... and it was really fun on it for desmond, janice and fadzly as this is their first time on the robot.. as for peggy and kah seng is still alright, as they already get to play the robots back in singapore before... hahas... although it's a little bit different...

and today fadzly get to play one of the student's project.. it's actually like a motor tricycle.. and he was really very happy and excitied about it.. hahas..
Next, we had our lunch.. it's still alright...

As you all can see it's pizza and fries over here so we are still ok with it.. hahas..

So, after our lunch, we head off to meet Craig and
his Year 1 students and then we had our industry visit to the DSM company together in the SCHOOL BUS.. how cool isn't it?.. hahas... it's actaully an eletronic company so it doesn't allow photography, thus we never take photos over there.. but there is a group photo outside the company... will upload it up tomorrow =) so catch us more tomorrow... till then... =)

Day 4 .. Class starting.

We woke up at 5am over @ canada , temp -2deg . got CHANGED & down to the train ..

First Lesson mechatronics Robotics . We were told to mix around with the First Year students . We got our chance to use the robotics equipments over here which they say the programing was kinda different from ours .. actually it was quite Fun operating the machines.

Second Lesson Mechanical Eng - Mathematics . Theory lesson haha ! We were not use to the timing yet so were kind of sleepy in class xD we only manage to remember it was "Statics" learning on Sine , Cosine rule , Angle (Deg) & Force (N). He made alot mistake in caculation but he is good at explain stuff using examples like tables & thing around us xD making it easy to remember . Nices ~

After that Keith & Gray .. suggested we go to the Gateway bar in School xD but when we reach the door step of "The Gates" we clarified that most of us are under18 xD haha ! so we went down to Thomas R. Cateferia to have our lunch we manage to get to understand canada's culture a little from Keith & Gray after that ..

Third Lesson Manufacturing Eng . Theory class .. We were told that this class was going to be pretty funny & if they were late the instructor is going to give them a big hug xD haha ! The funniest thing is that .. 5 push up for 100% for quiz xD Cheers ~ haha i hope we could have that to . LOL !

after that we went down to SafeWay gocery to get some stuff xD and we went back to hotel x)

We went down to the girls room to have dinner together xD Girls Cook & Guys Enjoy xD haha !

Canada Trip Day3

Today is the 3rd day of stay over here.. well, today some of us managed to overcome our jet lag and were able to get up early.. but some of us still feeling a little tired but i guess after today we all will feel better..
We started off with the breakfast they had prepared for us.. and over there, we met the management of the SAIT Polytechnic. We had a simple introduction and they are all very friendly and glad to help us to gain the Canada experience.
After our breakfast, we had Craig(he's the one who came to Singapore through the GEN programme) gave us a tour of MECHATRONICS section..
Over here, we met ROBERT, one of the lecturer and he started explaining his scope of lectures he gave to the students.
Then he started to explain one by one on how each machine works which we find very interesting.
This is one of their student's project.
After that we headed to the Industry Automation. It's actually a millwright section where we have gained additional knowledge on plant equipment.

Canada Trip Day2

Hello everyone.. PEGGY & KAH SENG here. Today is the 2nd day in Canada. We had an interesting tour around Calgary Downtown.
This is the Calgary Tower. The height of this tower is 190.8m which is equals to 525 storeys.
This is our group photo with PAM(who is the SAIT GEP coordinator) in the Calgary Tower.

The weather today is WONDERFUL as it's like -5 degrees celsius because of the chinook wind, the weather is very dry. this weather will last till thursday and the weather will change again.. and there's a joke about CALGARY which PAM, mentioned.. it goes like this.. "if you don't like the weather in Calgary, you just need to wait for a few mins". That means the weather can change anytime in the day. After that we had a wonderful tour of the SAIT Polytechnic. We were given the ID cards to access the facilities in their Polytechnic.

Hello! =) Janice Leo reporting!. heehee, being the first one to post on the first day, which was a SUNDAY would be easy for me. Haha. We've just arrived quite a while to Calgary at 1245 on the 1st of Feb over here (not singapore). It was the most tiring of my life ever because we took total of 24++hrs just for the airplane cause I've been like a walking zombie for the whole 2 days and a half. Well, it can be said that I can actually sleep on the plane. But it's difficult for me, somehow it felt uncomfortable sleeping in an compact small space in a sitting position. It's like we are the tuna from the cans =P. Haha. Thank goodness that the technology has been so advanced that we spend our time watching movies and listening to songs that they provided for us. Hmmm.. Peggy complained the most about sitting on the plane for such a long hrs make her half bottom numb/cramp. LOL. I think she spend half of her time standing and walking in and out of the toilet. haha. It's okay i understand, cause she have her laptop underneath her legs that gives her insufficient space to move her legs around. Oh! I remembered! for the first few hours on the plane to Tokyo, Desmond was being "retarded" , erm.. can call it hyper active. LOL. I mean it's because his first time on the plane, to him it's exciting for him I guess. But then his action was somewhat irritating but funny. He started talking rubbish to himself and also started disturbing Peggy,Ks and me ~_~. haha. Anyway, when we reached Calgary, we were brought to the hotel for check in then after that we bought our groceries. I think I bought rubbish =X haha. At least I think it's healthy i guess. Haha. actually, I was thinking of eating outside with Peggy.But when I see all selling fast food, I'm afraid she and me would get fatter =X haha.

That's all I've got to say about today.
